The Plumbers & Pipefitters UA Local 375 is accepting applications for a 14-week tuition-free advanced pipe welding course. Participants will be provided training in various pipe welding methods as required in pipeline construction, including associated classroom instruction. Students who satisfactorily complete the course work and successfully pass the downhill pipe qualification tests may be offered employment. All students must obtain membership into Local 375.
All applicants must be residents of Alaska, at least 18 years of age, and show proof that they have paid into State unemployment within the past 5 years (i.e. paystub). All applicants are highly encouraged to have previous welding and construction experience. Applicants may be required to interview and/or complete a skills evaluation before selections. Selected participants will be expected to pass a drug screening as a condition of acceptance and may be subjected to a physical abilities exam as a condition of employment. While in training participants will be required to provide their own housing and transportation.
Classes are scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 1st, 2020 and will be held Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center until Friday, December 4th, 2020. Participants will be expected to attend all training sessions made available to them. Welding and safety gear will be provided.
100% of funding for this course is provided by a grant from the State of Alaska Departmentof Labor and Workforce Development.
